The 1033 Market (fomerly known as Alternative Christmas Market) will be held on November 4 and 5, 2017. Let’s make this year the best we have ever had!
The name “1033 Market” is inspired by the story from Luke 10:33 – “A Samaritan, who was on a journey, came to where the man was. But when he saw him, he was moved with compassion.” Compassionate giving is the heart and soul of the market.
The market will run from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday Nov. 4 and 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 5.
1) Be a vendor to participate the day of the event. To register as a vendor, please complete this form.
2) Donate items for the Silent Auction. Some suggestions are themed baskets, movie tickets, dinner out, tickets to sporting events, vacation homes, etc. To make a donation, please complete this form.
3) Volunteer to work the day of the event. There will be opportunities to serve Nov. 4 and Nov. 5. Please complete this form and someone will be in touch to schedule your shift.
The 1033 Market offers a large selection of small gift items handcrafted by artists locally and around the world, and a way to shop for colleagues, family and friends while supporting non-profit groups serving human needs. Proceeds from gift sales and from the silent auction will further the work of missions agencies supported by the congregation.
A popular returning vendor is Ten Thousand Villages, a fair trade company that seeks to eradicate poverty through market-based solutions. They will feature a variety of handmade items including jewelry, hand-woven baskets and nativity scenes.
The Silent Auction allows shoppers to enter written bids on donated items such as themed gift baskets, movie tickets, restaurant gift cards, tickets to sporting events, and vacation home stays. Items this year could include a week-long beach vacation rental, fishing excursion, themed baskets and much more.
“At the 1033 market, you can find a gift for everyone on your Christmas List,” said Gwen Lindsey, market chairperson. “You can leave knowing that your purchase has benefited someone in need locally and even globally.”
