Today, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) lifted several restrictions for fully vaccinated persons, specifically for indoor mask wearing and physical distancing. Subsequently, the Executive Team of the Ministry Leadership Council (6 lay people and 4 staff) met this afternoon to discuss this news. Since the start of the pandemic, the Executive Team has relied on guidance from the CDC, local data from the Florida Department of Health, and the Florida Annual Conference to guide its protocols.
As a result, we are announcing the following important changes, effective starting this Sunday:
- Indoor and outdoor mask wearing will now be optional for fully vaccinated people;
- Reservations are no longer required for attending Sunday morning worship; however, reservations will still be required for now for children attending Sunday morning ministries.
- Social distancing will no longer be required.
- Unvaccinated persons should continue to follow CDC guidelines regarding mask wearing and distancing.
These changes will also apply to all adult small groups and committees meeting indoors on campus. We encourage each small group to consider the unique needs of their members and reach a consensus on how they are most comfortable meeting.
We sincerely appreciate this congregation’s prayerful patience as we have walked this unprecedented journey together. With today’s announcement, and with the exciting plans that continue to unfold for our church, we move into God’s future with enthusiasm, gratitude, and great joy!
