Two long-time members of Hyde Park United Methodist were recently honored for their contributions to our local community.

Doretha Edgecomb

On Monday August 31st the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County hosted the Virtual Grand Opening of the Doretha Wynn Edgecomb Children’s Board Family Resource Center in Temple Terrace. Doretha Wynn Edgecomb is a legendary Educator of Hillsborough County’s children, former Board Chair with Hillsborough County Public Schools and former Board Chair with the Children’s Board. Over 100 of Ms. Edgecomb’s family members, friends, colleagues and classmates from all over the Country logged on to the Zoom Webinar to thank her for the countless years of service she provided to children and families in Hillsborough County.

Margaret Palmer

On July 21, Margaret Palmer was awarded the Tampa Breakfast Sertoma Club’s 2020 / 2021 Service to Mankind Award for her work with Hillsborough House of Hope. Margaret was instrumental in creating this shelter to support “women transitioning out of correctional institutions and seeking positive reinforcement that aids in their personal, social and professional rehabilitation.” Learn more of Margaret’s story

We give thanks to God for the inspiration these two women have been in Making God’s Love Real in our community. Their efforts made a difference in the lives of many people.
