On June 21, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners recognized Hyde Park United Methodist for its Cold Weather Shelter ministry. Hyde Park is a participant in the county’s plan to provide temporary shelter for residents without adequate heat and persons experiencing homelessness. The commissioners issued a commendation to the church for serving more than 45 percent of the total individuals in the county needing temporary cold weather shelter this year.

Don Aiken, Hyde Park’s Cold Weather Shelter ministry leader, led a team of volunteers who prepared meals, distributed mats and blankets, and provided comfort to our overnight guests. In total, the Hyde Park’s Cold Weather Shelter assisted 611 individuals.

Thank you and congratulations to all of the volunteers on the Cold Weather Shelter team! To get involved with our Cold Weather Shelter ministry, sign up here.
