We continue the tradition of decorating our worship spaces with red poinsettias in honor or memory of friends and loved ones. Poinsettias may be taken home after the 11 p.m. Christmas Eve service or they will be delivered to a shut-in member of our community needing some Christmas cheer.
The Poinsettia gained significance in the Christmas tradition with a story of a young girl who could only afford weeds to honor the Baby Jesus at Christmas. When she entered the church, the weeds blossomed into the beautiful plants we know today. We use them to honor God during worship and during the Christmas season to bless our homes and offer community to shut ins.
